Guru
Guru Severen waved Bran through.
“Please, child, this way. Help yourself to some jelly.”
It had been a very long walk.
“Guru Severen,” Bran said, “I have travelled…”
Guru Severen shushed him with a wave of his hand.
“Jelly first,” he soothed, “talk later.”
The walked in silence to the jelly vat. The guru dipped his face, slurping deeply. With his face sheathed in a thick layer of black current jelly, Guru Severen turned to Bran.
“Drink deeply of the jelly,” he instructed.
“Actually,” replied Bran, “this isn’t what I thought it was going to be. I think I’ll head back down the mountain.”
“Your loss,” Severen returned, the last portion of which was smothered by his second jelly immersion of the morning.
